$50,831.11 - $58,455.65 (pro rata) per annum + super

Permanent part-time - 21 hours per week

 

We are looking for a highly motivated and innovative person with a high level of attention to detail to manage a variety of environmental projects and programs within the Environmental Sustainability team.

 

Council has recently adopted a new Environmental Strategy and Emissions Reduction Strategy and this role will primarily manage the operational emissions action plan. Some of the key tasks for this role include:

  • Council reporting of greenhouse gas emissions, energy consumption and water consumption;
  • Implementing projects identified in the action plan to reduce emissions;
  • Development of a resilience plan
  • Implement and review Council environmental policy such as sustainable event management, sustainable procurement and sustainable fleet management; and
  • Liaison with internal staff and the community on sustainability, e.g. provision of education, advice and direction on greenhouse gas emissions, energy conservation and water conservation etc.

 

As Senior Sustainability Projects Officer you will have experience in project management, strong data management skills and the ability to negotiate outcomes across the organisation. You will have extensive knowledge in current environmental issues, experience in developing reports including business case proposals to justify funding and the ability to mentor and support team members.

 

To be successful in this role you will need to have tertiary qualifications and experience relevant to environmental or sustainability fields. You will have excellent communication skills including the confidence to present and deal with the community and other departments within the organisation. You will have the ability to work both autonomously and in a team environment with a high degree of computer literacy essential for this position.

 

The position will involve meeting the community outside of normal work hours so there will be some night and weekend work.
