About the position

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Plant Operator to join our Cleansing Services team within our Roads & Traffic business unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining various plant equipment and machinery critical to the delivery of essential services within our community. 

You must be an early riser as you will be required to work from 4.00am to 1.00pm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain plant equipment.
  • Monitor plant processes and equipment performance to ensure efficient and effective operation.
  • Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on plant equipment to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with safety standards.
  • Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions, emergencies, and alarms, taking appropriate corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of plant operations, equipment maintenance, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to coordinate work activities and achieve operational goals.
  •  Adhere to all safety protocols, procedures, and regulatory requirements to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and             others.

About the person

The successful candidate should have the following.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in plant operations or related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience in operating and maintaining plant equipment, preferably within a municipal or industrial setting.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and technical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
  • Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, environmental standards, and best practices in plant operations.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and adapt to changing work demands.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed.

We are offering a remuneration between $58,548.54 to $67,330.82 per annum + Super. The City of Canada Bay also offers excellent employee benefits which include:
