About the role

We are currently seeking Traffic Engineer's to join our Roads & Traffic department in our City Assets directorate. As a Traffic Engineer, you will play a vital role in managing and improving the transportation infrastructure within our community. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in traffic engineering to enhance safety, efficiency, and accessibility for residents and visitors alike. 

  • Assist in all stages of investigating and delivering facilities to manage traffic, parking, walking and cycling in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Conduct traffic and parking assessments for proposed developments and infrastructure projects.
  • Analyse traffic data and trends to identify areas for improvement and develop effective traffic management strategies.
  • Collaborate with other departments and agencies to coordinate transportation planning initiatives and address community needs.
  • Respond to inquiries and concerns from residents regarding traffic, parking, walking and cycling issues and propose solutions to mitigate problems.
  • Review and approve traffic management plans for construction projects to ensure compliance with approved standards and regulations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices in traffic engineering and incorporate them into project designs and plans as appropriate.

About the person 

  • Tertiary qualifications (degree level) in Civil Engineering or Traffic Engineering, and eligible to become a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers, Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience in the traffic and transport areas of strategic planning.
  • Working experience in the design of traffic facilities and in the day-to-day management of local traffic issues including participation on local traffic committees.
  • Extensive working knowledge of the Transport for NSW and Austroads Guidelines and Australian Standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of the NSW Roads Act and NSW Road Rules.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written (English) communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Experience using AutoCAD.
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment with other staff and consultants.
  • Current ‘Class C’ Drivers Licence.

What’s on offer

We are offering an attractive total remuneration package for the right person, starting at $92,107.24 to $105,923.32 gross per annum + Super + Civil Liability Allowance (3.5%).
