About the role
We are seeking an organised, motivated and motivated professional to lead our Traffic and Transport team.
Leading a busy and dynamic team, you will be responsible for providing operational and specialist technical leadership and advice in the areas of parking, road safety, traffic and transportation management as well as advice in relation to the traffic and parking impacts of development proposals.
Using your expert knowledge and experience, combined with your creative and innovative approach, you will manage the research, design, investigation and delivery of new traffic and parking facilities, including initiating consultation with relevant stakeholders. In liaison with Council’s Construction staff you will oversee and the preparation of briefs and specifications for new traffic, transport and parking projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Providing operational and specialist technical advice and actions in the areas of parking, road safety, traffic and transportation management, and traffic aspects of development proposals
- Pursuing, developing, and implementing principles and innovative technical solutions using a modern approach to traffic, parking and transport management
- Focusing on the strategic planning for transport management for the City of Canada Bay including development and implementation of education strategies; consideration of regional traffic and transport factors; and development and implementation of consultation systems
- Liaising with residents, staff and other Government agencies, organise and participate in stakeholder workshops as well as initiate and coordinate community consultation with residents affected by traffic and parking impacts
- Preparing reports (including reports to the Council), briefs and specifications for traffic and parking projects within the LGA, as well as the budget for traffic parking and transportation investigations and traffic capital works.
About the person
The successful applicant will have the following:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant engineering discipline, and eligible to become a Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia
- Expert knowledge in traffic management and traffic control
- Extensive working knowledge of the Transport for NSW and Austroads Guidelines and Australian Standards
- Thorough knowledge of the NSW Roads Act and NSW Road Rules
- Demonstrated high level verbal and written (English) communication skills, including the preparation, presentation and management of community consultations.
- Advanced computer literacy, preferably in Microsoft Office and Technology One, and associated Local Government applications.
- Demonstrated experience in understanding and managing the amenity, complexity, political and legislative environment associated with traffic and transport management.
- Proven ability to manage staff, consultants and contractors
- Experience in managing budgets and delivering projects within agreed specifications and timeframes
