About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Street Cleaner to join our Cleansing Services team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and across various public areas within Canada Bay whilst upholding a strong commitment to high-quality performance whilst performing duties in a safe manner. 

Key Responsibilities

Include, but are not limited to;

  • General litter collection, rubbish removal and cleaning activities such as litter bins, clean ups, illegal dumping, trade waste, general roadside litter and suction/manual pit cleaning.
  • Operation and routine maintenance of manual plant such as light, medium and rigid trucks, blowers, high pressure hoses, truck/sucker attachments, hand tools, brooms and cleaning chemicals.
  • Erecting signage, temporary barricades and control traffic through worksites as directed.
  • Working as a co-operative team member.
  • Executing all work in a safe manner and ensure all Council WH&S policies and procedures are adhered to at times.
  • Demonstrating a high commitment to quality performance in all work performed to support Council's goal of continuous improvement.
  • Projecting the image of Council as both efficient and courteous!

About the person 

The successful applicant will have the following:

  • Availability to work rostered time of 4:00am to 1:00am.
  • Current C Drivers licence.
  •  WorkCover accredited Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) General Induction for Construction Work in NSW
  • Traffic Control Certificate – IMP + TCR.
  • Ability to perform manual labor and an interest in working outdoors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, follow instructions and work within a set timeframe with limited supervision.
  • Sound communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records, undertake basic calculations and complete basic forms.
  • Willingness to undertake rotational aspect of role and undertake duties in different areas of Council as deemed appropriate by supervisors.
  • Ability to clearly understand and adhere to Council's policies associated with EEO, Discrimination & Harassment and Work Health & Safety.
