About the role
We are on the lookout for a passionate and dynamic Tree Services Coordinator to join our Open Space team. This is an exciting opportunity for an immediate start on an 18-month Fixed Term Contract, with the potential for extension.
As the Tree Services Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of managing, protecting, and maintaining the Urban Forest in the City of Canada Bay. You will work closely with the Urban Forest & Ecology Team to ensure the effective management and coordination of public tree assets, private tree applications, and development assessments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and Maintain: Council-owned trees, ensuring they meet relevant standards and strategic goals using our tree management program (Forestree) and Record Management System (TechOne)
- Provide Expert Advice: Offer technical guidance to the community, stakeholders, and the Urban Forest & Ecology Team on all things Urban Forest management.
- Coordinate Resources: Lead the Tree Services Team, including contractors, to ensure efficient and budget-compliant tree maintenance.
- Ensure Compliance: Process development applications (DAs), road driveway applications (RDAs) and Tree Pruning & Removal Applications (TRA's) in line with statutory requirements and City policies.
- Investigate: Collaborate with the Health, Building, and Compliance Team to investigate unauthorised tree works.
About You!
We are looking for someone with:
- AQF5 Diploma of Arboriculture.
- White Card
- Current C Class Drivers Licence.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in local government tree management or a minimum of 5 years Australian arboricultural industry experience
- Tree Risk Assessment Qualifications
- Proven experience in people management.
- Intermediate computer skills and experience using Microsoft Suite.
