About the role
Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic & capable library professional to join our passionate library team to support, develop and implement outcomes-based programs that meet the diverse needs of the adult community within the City of Canada Bay, with a focus on older people and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities.

Key responsibilities:
- Oversee the development and delivery of library programs for adults, older people and CALD community members, that support and celebrate diversity, encourage social connection and support a range of learning and recreational needs
- Ensure continuous improvement in the development and delivery of adult programs that meet the needs of our diverse adult populations through community consultation and collaboration, program evaluation and knowledge of emerging trends in library practices
- Connect, build, and maintain strong relationships with relevant key stakeholders, including community groups and organisations and staff across Council to best represent the City of Canada Bay’s diverse communities
- Identify and recommend improvements to ensure excellence in customer experience, with a focus on the needs of older people and CALD community members using the library
- Develop and implement effective promotional and marketing strategies, including a program of events, activities and displays relevant to older people and CALD communities
- Collaborate with the Collections Librarian to manage collections for CALD communities and older people, including reviewing collection specifications for suppliers to ensure the library has well-rounded, targeted collections to meet the needs of the community
- Supervise the Outreach Support Library Officer in the delivery of a contemporary and effective Home Library Service, including volunteer management
- Participate in the service point roster system in the role of Senior Duty Officer as required, including evening and weekend work at designated service points, to ensure quality customer service to members and visitors
- Carry out additional tasks within your skill set and related to library services, as assigned by the Manager.
About the person
To be successful in this position, ideally you will have:
- TAFE Diploma qualifications in library and information studies or equivalent.
- Comprehensive knowledge and demonstrated experience working with and providing services to CALD communities and older people in a community service or library environment.
- Demonstrated experience developing programs and activities for target demographics.
- Working with Children Check clearance
- Current ‘Class C’ Driver’s Licence.
