About the role
The Events Officer will assist in the administration, planning and delivery of Council’s annual Events Program which promotes community engagement and supports local initiatives. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders, including community groups, contractors and volunteers to ensure safe and professional event delivery. The Events Officer will also be guided by the Events Manager in the coordination and administration of Council’s Community Events Grants Program.
Key responsibilities, not limited to:
- Provide administrative support in all aspects of event management, planning and delivery including event logistics, stallholder applications, performer agreements and event related checklists and manuals
- Actively participate in the delivery of Council’s annual Events Program including major festivals and town centre activations ensuring safe event delivery with a high level of customer satisfaction
- Administer and maintain quality records, including spreadsheets, online databases, events calendars and internal reporting systems to ensure compliance with record-keeping policies and procedures
- Act as the primary contact for event attendees, stallholders and performers, responding to enquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Assist in developing promotional materials to increase event visibility and community participation
- Assist the Events team in the development of new events and activations in response to changing community needs and Council objectives
- Collaborate with and assist the Events team, Events and Place Manager and other key stakeholders to achieve business unit goals, work requests, demands and Council priorities
About the person
The successful candidate should have previous experience in event planning and delivery, preferably with a local government or community background.
Essential requirements for the role include the following:
- Qualifications in event delivery/management/planning and/or equivalent experience.
- Excellent administrative skills, with the ability to maintain quality documentation and comply with Council’s record-keeping requirements.
- High level customer service and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments and with a range of external stakeholders, including event attendees, contractors, community groups and volunteers.
- Ability to work flexibly, including outside of normal business hours to support and deliver events.
- Current “Class C” Driver’s Licence.
