About the role

As Procurement Officer, you will be an integral part of our procurement team, responsible for coordinating procurement processes, liaising with suppliers, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies and regulations. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a detail-oriented professional to contribute to the success of the City of Canada Bay. 

You will:  

  • Assist in the development and implementation of procurement plans. 
  • Coordinate the procurement process from requisition to contract award. 
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies, procedures, and relevant regulations.
  • Engage with suppliers to obtain quotes, negotiate terms, and assess capabilities.
  • Maintain positive relationships with suppliers, monitoring performance and addressing issues.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and qualify new suppliers.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate procurement documentation.
  • Generate reports on procurement activities, expenditures, and savings.
  • Assist in the preparation of contract documentation and amendments.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant procurement laws, policies, and ethical standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews to identify areas for process improvement.
  • Provide guidance on procurement best practices to internal stakeholders.  

About the person 

The successful candidate should have previous experience in procurement, preferably in a government or public sector setting, Knowledge of procurement laws, regulations, and best practices, Strong communication and negotiation skills and attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities.

It would be preferred but not essential for applicants to have a Bachelor's Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
