About the role 

We are looking for someone to assist our Waste Contracts team with the roll out of our new Bulk Household Waste Service.  

The Waste Contract Compliance Officer will play a key role in ensuring the effective delivery of Council’s Bulk Household Collection Service through regular field-based monitoring and community engagement. This role involves working on the ground across the city to assess contractor and resident compliance, investigate non-compliant presentations, and support education and communication around service requirements. 

As a Waste Contract Compliance Officer, you will assist in the following key duties: 

  • Monitor the infield day to day operations of Council’s Waste Services Collection in relation to the Bulk Household Collection Service.  
  • To facilitate and promote resident education and service compliance information for the Bulk Household Collection Service.  
  • Investigate and action bulk household placement to ensure compliance with Council requirements and monitor non-compliant bulk household data to identify any trends and hotspot areas.  
  • Assist with the development of programs to ensure compliance with Council requirements for bulk household presentation and facilitate the implementation and evaluation of the program.  
  • To monitor contractor and resident compliance with the contract Bulk Household Collection Service, reporting daily.  

We are looking for a hard-working team player that can think creatively, multitask and is willing to work Sunday to Thursday. Applicants must possess a valid NSW driver's license.  

  • Demonstrated work experience in the fields of investigation, enforcement, waste management, environment, customer service and/or related field.  
  • Current NSW drivers’ licence and experience in towing a trailer or similar.  
  • Strong customer service and conflict negotiation skills  
  • Capacity to perform manual handling task and strong work ethic.  
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel   

Desirable skills and experience 

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation e.g. Local Government Act, POEO, Waste Regulations.  
  • Demonstrated experience in investigations and preparation of evidence.  

What’s on offer 

We are offering an attractive total remuneration from $54,044 to $62,150 (pro rata salary and penalties) + super

Hours required 

  • Sunday 12pm – 4pm and Monday - Thursday 11-4pm. Some flexibility can be negotiated
