About the role
We are seeking a Project Officer who will manage and support the delivery of assigned projects in Council’s Capital Works Program which could include a variety of projects from playgrounds, sports fields, buildings, asset renewals, engineering and infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and prioritise key tasks and activities, anticipate project constraints, identify inter-dependencies, and manage these to deliver an optimum outcome for Council.
- Develop achievable project plans for the effective implementation and management of procurement, time, communications, change, risks, issues and budgets/ costs, tailored to support and align with Council’s operations.
- Manage the project budget, and proactively work with Finance to ensure asset management data is captured for the long-term sustainability of Council assets.
- Deliver timely outputs and produce or support the development of the required reports professionally and accurately.
- Perform prudent and proactive contract administration to safeguard and protect Council’s interests and mitigate risk exposure.
- Develop stakeholder engagement and communication plans and working with other council officers across the different business units, proactively manage stakeholder expectations.
- Coordinate and communicate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of project goals and progress.
- Work across Council to ensure the appropriate internal teams/resources are engaged in the development and delivery of the project.
- Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and align with established best practices.
About the person
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Project or Construction Management.
- Australian Institute of Project Management (AIPM) certification or equivalent preferred.
- Some demonstrable experience in successfully managing and delivering projects within a government or public sector context.
- Strong understanding of local government operations, regulations, and decision-making processes.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software such as MS Project
- Current Class “C” Drivers Licence
- Workcover accredited Construction Induction (White) Card preferred
