  • Permanent, Full-time position - 38 hours per week
  • $67,674 to $77,825 +super + allowances
  • Participate in Council's 9-day fortnight scheme

About the role

This position is responsible for the following:

  • Oversee the preparation and upkeep of parks to meet required standards.
  • Coordinate daily team operations and work routines to optimise time and resource use.
  • Develop work programs, including rosters and resource allocation, ensuring projects stay within budget, meet deadlines, and comply with relevant standards.
  • Identify and report turf issues, recommending improvements as needed.
  • Manage roadside vegetation to maintain visibility and safety.
  • Ensure traffic control plans are in place and implemented for all worksites.
  • Monitor project delivery to ensure alignment with designs and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Plan and enforce safety measures across all worksites.
  • Lead by example, promoting high standards, a strong work ethic, and proactive performance management.
  • Foster a positive, motivated team culture through strong collaboration and communication.
  • Support continuous improvement by contributing to workplace reform, service efficiency, and operational goals.

About the person 
The successful candidate should have previous experience in the maintenance of Open Space areas including Parks, Gardens or Sportsfields, combined with demonstrated experience acting in a leadership role, motivating, leading, mentoring and managing the workload of others.

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Certificate III Horticulture (Greenkeeping) or equivalent
  • Current WorkCover accredited Construction Induction Card
  • Current ‘C Class’ Drivers licence
  • Chemical Users Certificate
  • Traffic Control Certificate – Blue, Yellow and Red
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems and recommend and implement improvements
  • Proven ability to work in a self-directed manner, participate effectively as part of a team, follow instructions and work within a set timeframe
