Library Collections Officer

About the role

This position is responsible for providing an efficient and effective delivery of library services to meet the needs of the community including performing a range of library, customer service and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing customer service at all library service points, including weekends and evenings
  • Supervising staff to ensure effective customer service delivery
  • Assisting with daily library operations and handling general enquiries
  • Helping with shelving, displaying, and maintaining library collections
  • Guiding customers in using library resources and technologies
  • Supporting library projects, delivering programs, and assisting with other tasks as directed
  • Promoting the library and engaging with the community
  • Providing inter-library loan services as needed
  • Evaluating usage and implementing strategies to encourage collection use
  • Liaising with library collection suppliers
  • Ensuring the library collection is current and well-maintained

About the person 

To be successful in this position, ideally you will have: 

  • Diploma in Library and Information Services and/or equivalent knowledge, skills and experience with demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Current Working with Children Check
