We are currently seeking enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join our Place & Events Team Talent Pool as Casual Event Staff. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in delivering some of the City of Canada Bay’s most exciting community events.

As part of the talent pool, you may be offered the opportunity to work on a range of events—including one of our largest and most iconic festivals, Ferragosto, taking place on Sunday 17 August. This vibrant street festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Five Dock each year with food, live music, entertainment, and cultural celebrations.

Other upcoming events may include:

  • Halloween on Majors Bay Road
  • Foreshore Flicks – our popular summer sunset cinema series
  • A variety of smaller council-run events and Town Centre activations throughout the year

About the role:

As Casual Event Staff, you’ll assist with the seamless setup, delivery, and pack-down of events. Your responsibilities will include managing event logistics, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment, and delivering excellent customer service.

Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Setting up and packing down event infrastructure (e.g. marquees, signage, furniture)
  • Coordinating equipment and site logistics
  • Supporting on-site operations and troubleshooting issues in real-time
  • Assisting event attendees and providing high-quality customer service
  • Supervising volunteers where required
  • Monitoring event site safety and reporting hazards
  • Adapting to changing conditions and supporting event success

About you:

We’re looking for individuals who are:

  • Experienced in events, hospitality, or customer service
  • Physically capable and comfortable with manual handling
  • Confident working outdoors and in fast-paced environments
  • Clear communicators and proactive problem solvers
  • Positive team players with a flexible and enthusiastic attitude
  • Available for weekend, evening, and public holiday shifts

Desirable (or willingness to obtain):

  • Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Class C Driver’s Licence

What’s on offer

We are offering an hourly rate between $30.99 to $35.63 + 25% casual loading and penalties.
