About the role

Have you got a strong interest in the automotive industry? This could be the perfect opportunity for you to earn while you learn! As an Apprentice with the City of Canada Bay Council, you’ll gain valuable on-the-job experience alongside structured training. You will develop a range of specialized skills and knowledge in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology. 

As an Apprentice Mechanic, you will assist in all areas of Council's fleet vehicles and plant. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience and complete a nationally recognised qualification (Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology) while working alongside experienced mechanics maintaining Council’s diverse fleet of vehicles and plant. 

About the person 

To be successful in this job you will have:

  • Completion of Higher School Certificate or Year 10 Certificate (minimum) 
  • Ability to meet the basic manual handling and physical health requirements of the role
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to acquire a sound knowledge and understanding of workplace health and safety
  • A commitment to meeting training requirements and fostering personal development
  • WHS Construction Induction Card (White Card) or ability and willingness to obtain prior to commencement
  • Current NSW Class C Licence
  • A genuine interest and passion in undertaking a trade with a demonstrated interest in automotive/mechanic work.

Desirable

  • Previous experience or interest in mechanic work 
  • Experience as part of a functioning team
  • Basic computer literacy, including experience / knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
